Here we are again at the time of the year when our horses and ponies get pestered by flies!! It seems to be a minefield when deciding which fly sheet/rug to use, so we will try to give you a guide. Most manufacturers produce a rug to protect against flies but the ones we offer have been tried and tested with good results. Bucas do the Buzz-Off fly sheet, the full neck giving the best protection. These are made from specially develop[ed lightweight fine mesh fabric. They block even the smallest of insects and reduce the effects of Ultra-Violet on your horse, Face masks are avaliable.
Thermatex make the Atlanta Fly sheet/rug which was originally designed for William Fox-Pitt and Cosmopolitan at the Atlanta Olympics. This Fly rug is made from white sun reflecting high strength micro mesh whih prevents flies and midges from landing on the skin and irritating the horse. Generally intended for use in and around the stable, it has proved tough enough to be used for short supervised periods of turnout. A neck cover and face veil are available.
